Do I need counselling?

People come to counselling for a variety of reasons.

  • You’ve identified that something isn’t right and you are looking for answers.

  • ‘Normal’ isn’t feeling normal anymore.

  • You may have had previous experience of talking therapy and experienced a change.

  • You’re feeling anxious or overwhelmed by a life transition like retirement, moving or divorce.

  • Someone may have suggested counselling might help because they’ve noticed a difference in you - and you agree.

Working on a regular basis with a counsellor gives you the time and space to explore your feelings, thoughts and ideas. In our sessions together, we can build a deeper and clearer understanding of you and find within yourself the answers you may be looking for. Sessions are confidential and I won’t share anything about you without your consent. Counselling provides a safe time to talk about anything you are going through.

The BACP has a detailed page on "What is counselling?" including some videos from skilled professionals to explain what is involved.
